KL Rahul became the first cricketer in Test history to be dismissed for 100 on two occasions in the same calendar year. Rahul slammed his 11th Test century on the 2nd day of the first Test against West Indies at Ahmedabad on Friday. It was his second Test hundred at home, but he was dismissed immediately upon reaching the milestone. For the second time in a row, Rahul has made a Test century and been out for exactly 100, following that Lord’s Test against England back in July. Since the inaugural Test match being played in 1877, no player has been dismissed twice for 100 during the same calendar year. Rahul, however, became only the seventh player to be dismissed for 100 twice during his Test career.

KL Rahul, after scoring a century against the West Indies at Ahmedabad, said playing in various conditions, especially in England, has really helped his confidence.
He had his finest Test series there, too, this year, ending the five-match series as third-highest run-scorer, with 532 runs in 10 innings at an average of 53.20, including two hundreds and two fifties.
Rahul shared that his celebration after reaching the triple-figure was for his daughter. Rahul hammered his first home century since 2016, which also marked his second in a Test match in India under the WICB, grinding forth a 100 from 197 balls, with 12 fours.
“Really enjoyed my batting. Playing in different conditions. England was fun. Obviously, getting runs there gives you a lot of confidence, and coming into this game with some runs behind me also helped. Feeling fresher after a longish break after the series. Yeah, I really enjoyed being back. (Were you nervous?) No, not really. Because I just played a game last week (for India A). So yeah, I was a bit nervous playing there because I haven’t been on the field for a good 5-6 weeks. So just to get back into that rhythm, just to get back into getting runs and spending time in the field and coming in day after day for 4-5 days is a bit of a challenge physically as well,” KL Rahul spoke after stumps on Day 2.
“The conditions here have been really, really tough There last week was even worse. In that sense, it’s been really kind of challenging physically. It has been good to get out on the track, though, and that was good for me and for getting some miles in me. (Regarding his celebration) It was for my daughter,” he added.
