Two of India’s premier batsmen, Ravindra Jadeja and KL Rahul, are marching towards the 4,000-run mark in Test cricket ahead of the second Test between India and the West Indies at New Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium from October 10 onwards.
The second Test of the series will start on Friday onwards, India being already 1-0 up.
Jadeja, with a dazzling 104 not out in the last Ahmedabad Test and bagging the ‘Player of the Match’ award alongside picking up a four-wicket haul 10 runs shy of the milestone, is just 10 runs away. In 86 Tests, he has amassed 3,990 runs at an average of 38.73, with six centuries and 27 fifties.
The all-rounder is absolutely in red-hot form this year, clocking 659 runs in just seven Tests and 13 innings with an average of 82.37, including two centuries and five fifties. The 516-run series in England and several critical contributions have seen the all-rounder deliver on an almost unprecedented hot streak that doesn’t appear set to end anytime soon.
