Karun Nair’s story is quite something. He’s the Indian batsman who scored a 303 in Test cricket but has had his share of ups and downs. In a country where cricket is everywhere, he was expected to have made it big by now. But he didn’t give up. He kept working hard, performed consistently at the domestic level and recently showed his skills in the IPL where he played for the Delhi Capitals. He even hit a six on his very first ball!
Now he’s back in the mix, selected for the India tour of England starting June 20. He scored 204 runs in the first unofficial Test for India A against the England Lions, proving he still wants to make his mark in cricket. KL Rahul, who played with him in the IPL, is among many fans who are excited to see Karun do well in the Tests against England.

In a BCCI video, KL Rahul spoke about how long he’s known Karun and the tough times he faced while playing in the UK. He said it’s a big deal for Karun and his family and for friends like him who have seen how hard he’s worked. He’s really hoping Karun’s county cricket experience will help him in the Tests.
If Karun plays in the first Test at Headingley, it will be his 7th game in red-ball cricket. So far he’s batted 7 times, scored 374 runs and that 303 came in just one innings.
