Lucknow Super Giants legspinner Digvesh Singh Rathi received a one-game suspension and a fine worth half of his match fee after he had a heated argument with Sunrisers Hyderabad player Abhishek Sharma, an IPL office statement said on Tuesday.
The incident happened during SRH’s six-wicket win at the Ekana Cricket Stadium, in Lucknow. Abhishek seemed to have taken offense to Digvesh’s send-off as the latter walked off the field after scoring a quick fifty: Abhishek walked back to confront Digvesh and had to be separated by officials of both teams.
The IPL said that: `Digvesh Singh, Bowler, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), has been fined 50 percent of his match fees for conduct unbecoming in breach of the IPL Code of Conduct.’ It is the third time this season that Digvesh has been fined for a Level 1 offense, thus adding two more demerit points to his record. Prior to this, he had three demerit points for incidents: one point for an issue related to Punjab Kings on April 1, and two points for an issue related to Mumbai Indians on April 4.

Thus, with these five demerit points, Digvesh shall remain unavailable for selection for the LSG’s next game against Gujarat Titans on Thursday in Ahmedabad.
