English cricket experts Michael Atherton and Nasser Hussain had a laugh at Dinesh Karthik’s expense over his chat with Virat Kohli during the IPL 2025 final. This was on a podcast on June 16 where Karthik was the mentor and batting coach of Royal Challengers Bengaluru. They won the title for the first time ever. Kohli scored a steady 43 off 35 and finished as the team’s top scorer.
Atherton had a dig at Karthik for stealing the show during the trophy celebrations and for trying to give Kohli advice. “Before the final I thought if RCB won you’d be right up front with the trophy and that turned out to be spot on. Kohli was at the back but you guys won,” Atherton said. He pointed out that during a timeout Karthik seemed to be telling Kohli something and after that Kohli got out in the next over. “What did you say to him?” he asked.
Karthik just laughed and struggled to come up with an answer. “This is probably the toughest question I’ve faced in a podcast. I can handle the first part but for the second I’m trying to remember without freaking out,” he replied. He then turned the table and asked Atherton what he thought he might have told Kohli.

Atherton didn’t hold back and said, “I was thinking what could he possibly tell one of the best batsmen ever? And whatever it was it didn’t work since he got out next over.” Karthik admitted he couldn’t remember what they discussed and Hussain chimed in, “It’s the first time you haven’t had an answer. You’re quiet!”
