Mohammed Siraj is really making a name for himself among the best Indian fast bowlers in the IPL. He hit a major milestone during a game against the Gujarat Titans and Sunrisers Hyderabad, reaching 100 wickets in the tournament. That’s quite the achievement, putting him in a select group of only 12 Indian pacers to hit that mark.
In this particular match, he really shone in the powerplay, taking out the powerful opening duo of Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma, which was a huge deal. What’s even cooler is that he achieved this feat in his hometown of Hyderabad, giving it an extra special touch. In his very first over, he managed to dismiss Head. The batter was trying to flick a ball to mid-wicket when he ended up finding Sai Sudharshan, who made a fantastic catch.
Later in his third over, he took out Abhishek Sharma too. Sharma was looking to hit one over long-on, but instead, he hit it right to Rahul Tewatia standing by the boundary, who easily caught it. Not stopping there, Siraj added another wicket in the death overs by getting rid of Aniket Verma. He capped off his impressive performance by knocking out Simarjeet Singh’s stumps, showcasing his amazing bowling skills.
As for Bhuvneshwar Kumar, he still holds the record for the most wickets by an Indian pacer in the IPL with 183 wickets. Siraj has a lot to live up to, but he’s clearly on a roll this season and is hoping to keep it going, aiming to reclaim his spot in the Indian national team. He hasn’t been part of the national setup since the disappointing Border-Gavaskar Trophy series against Australia, which ended in a bitter loss for India after so long. He also missed out on being included for the Champions Trophy 2025, where India went on to win the title without him.
After taking some time off cricket, it seems like Siraj has found his rhythm again. He’s back in form and making a strong impact in this year’s IPL, picking up wickets like it’s his job, which it is! Fans are definitely excited to see where he’ll go from here.
