Mumbai Indians (MI) have appointed Lisa Keightley as their new head coach for the 2026 Women’s Premier League (WPL) season. She won two World Cups with Australia. Keightley has a great playing and coaching CV. She played 9 Tests and 82 ODIs for Australia and was part of their World Cup winning teams in 1997 and 2005. As a coach she has led some top teams like Australia Women, England Women, Sydney Thunder in the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) and London Spirit in The Hundred. She’s known for her tactics and ability to develop young players so she’s a respected figure in women’s cricket.
Mumbai Indians are going into WPL 2026 as defending champions after beating the Delhi Capitals in the 2025 final. MI Women were the best team in the league under Edwards because they were smart and wanted to win. With Keightley as head coach the team wants to stay on top and win their third WPL title.
