Suryakumar Yadav has been on that fire for the Mumbai Indians this IPL season in 2025, getting 25-plus runs in 12 straight games. But his wife, Devisha, noticed something odd: he hadn’t won a single Player of the Match award. That changed on Wednesday when MI posted on social media, “Bhagwan ka diya sab kuch hai.. POTM hai, most 4s, most 6s hai.”

Suryakumar top-scored for the MI with a knock of 73 runs off 43 balls on a difficult track that had spun a lot, assisted Mumbai to a total of 180 for 5, and a 59-run victory over Delhi Capitals in Match 63. He equalled the record of most consecutive 25+ scores in T20s- 13- alongside Temba Bavuma. The late partnership with Naman Dhir, who scored 48 runs in the last two overs, kind of rescued their score from 132/5 to a defendable total.
The bowlers now took over. Mitchell Santner (3-11) and Jasprit Bumrah (3-12) just cleaned up Delhi for 121, wrapping up a comfortable victory and sealing a playoff berth. After that game, Suryakumar was thrilled with being a Player of the Match.

“Thirteen games now, and my wife reminded me that while I’ve won a lot of awards, I hadn’t gotten this one. It feels special today. That knock was crucial for the team, and I dedicate this trophy to her. It was important for me to stay till the end,” Suryakumar said. He says sitting third in the Orange Cap race with 583 runs, and after that he is going to party with a big cake. My wife is very much looking forward to these moments, and we always celebrate them once we’re home, he added.”
