Ravichandran Ashwin, the Indian spinner, said that he told a few IPL teams to pick Tim David before the IPL 2025 mega auction. Most of them didn’t agree, saying David’s form has gone down.
Tim David, who was released by Mumbai Indians before the auction, didn’t get much attention when his name was mentioned. So Royal Challengers Bengaluru got him for just 3 crores.
David has become a valuable asset in RCB’s powerful batting lineup, playing many crucial innings as a finisher. He scored 187 runs with an average of 62.33 and a strike rate of 185.15, which shows how quickly he can score when under pressure.
Ashwin said he told the people in charge of a few IPL teams to watch David closely but they didn’t listen to him.
Ashwin said on his YouTube channel that he shouldn’t say this but he told the people who make decisions for a few IPL teams to pick David before the last auction. They all disagreed. Ashwin thinks tall batters with strong builds are the future of T20 cricket. He thinks they will dominate if the wide ball rule is not changed.
Ashwin also thinks if the wide line rule stays the same these players will be very hard to deal with. He predicts Cam Green will be a hot property in upcoming auctions. While people are also watching Mitch Owen, Ashwin says wait and see how he develops.
Ashwin said Owen is still new and it’s hard to come into a competition like the IPL and make an impact immediately. But he wants to wait and see how Owen progresses. Ashwin said both Cam Green and Tim David are in good form.

David, who is 29 years old has also been doing well for the Australian team this year. In 5 matches he has scored 265 runs with a strike rate of 212.00. He also scored his first T20I century against West Indies and the Australian team management has started to move him up in the batting order.
Ashwin praised RCB for taking a chance on David and getting him for just 3 crores which has turned out to be a great buy for the team. Ashwin said RCB got a player for 3 crores who has improved a lot. He said good to see Australia moving him up the order and David is a good find for RCB.
