Anvay Dravid, son of ex-India captain Rahul Dravid, will be leading Karnataka and will also keep wickets in the forthcoming Vinoo Mankad Trophy, the premier Under-19 one-day tournament of India. Long considered a staging or testing ground for the country’s brightest young cricketers, Anvay becoming captain is an indication of his consistent performance in the junior circuit.
Anvay Dravid to Lead Karnataka in Vinoo Mankad Trophy
At 18, he was Karnataka’s leading run-scorer in the previous edition of the tournament and is regarded as one of the most promising young batsmen in the state setup. His form over the last few years has been exceptional.
In the Under-16 Vijay Merchant Trophy, Anvay was second time topscorer for Karnataka, with 459 runs in six matches averaging 91.80, having two centuries and 46 boundaries amongst those runs. His consistency and calm demeanor have made him a pillar of Karnataka’s youth cricket structure.

Karun Nair is Back as Karnataka Announced the Ranji Trophy Squad
The junior team was set to take part in their tournament, and concurrently, Karnataka’s senior team announced the squad for the first Ranji Trophy encounter of 2025 against Saurashtra. There were some buzz surrounding the comeback of Karun Nair. Nair is making a comeback in the Karnataka lineup after two seasons away. After doing fairly well for Vidarbha, he returned, assisting them last season in the Ranji Trophy triumph. Initially included among the probables, Nair has now been confirmed in the final squad.
Mayank Agarwal will continue leading the seniors, who now have an additional bunch of new players in Kruthika Krishna, Shikhar Shetty, and Mohsin Khan. The return of Karun Nair makes the team much stronger, providing the addition of experience to what is already a very talented batsman-heavy team ready to start the domestic season on a high note.
