Ramandeep Singh, who’s an all-rounder in Indian cricket, recently shared some interesting insights about his experience with the Mumbai Indians (MI) and his current team, the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). He was a part of MI in 2022 before making the switch to KKR. During a chat on the Raj Shamani Podcast on YouTube, he talked about a nifty tool that MI uses called Sports Always. This app has tons of video clips that help players get better at their game.
Ramandeep explained that this special app lets players check out videos of any batsman facing any bowler, no matter where they’re playing. It’s like having a mini-library of cricket action right at your fingertips! For example, if someone wants to see how he performed against Jasprit Bumrah, all they have to do is type in both names, and boom, they get all the match footage. He mentioned how the MI team is super organized and puts a lot of thought into preparing for every single player they might face throughout the tournament.
He said, “MI plans very well for every player,” pointing out this precise approach that the team takes to ensure they are ready for any situation. As for his own performance in the IPL 2024, he had a decent showing even though he only racked up 125 runs. His contributions were crucial, keeping the team’s momentum going, which ultimately helped MI snag their third IPL title. KKR decided to keep him on the team by retaining him for ₹4 crore before the 2025 auction.
In the podcast, Ramandeep was also candid about other offers he received. He mentioned that leading up to the auction, he had much larger offers from other teams, some even going up to ₹10 crore. But for him, it was never just about the money. He expressed a heartfelt sentiment, saying he couldn’t abandon KKR, the franchise that stood by him when he was still making his mark in the game. “You shouldn’t leave them at all. If you’re just leaving for cash, that doesn’t sit right with me,” he shared.
Ramandeep believes that IPL is a chance for players to grow and that the teams backing them deserve loyalty. Sure, money is a factor, but he emphasized that his primary goal has always been to represent India and one day lift the World Cup for his country. As the IPL 2025 season kicked off, KKR faced a tough start, losing to RCB by seven wickets at their home ground, the Eden Gardens.
