The Royal Challengers Bengaluru are vs Punjab Kings for their very first IPL title, and it seems like another possible wrinkle might have been added to the mix. Salt, a shining star opener for the RCB, might just give all these arrangements into a whirl with the prospect of missing out, as his partner is due to give birth. Added to this speculations arose when Salt could not be seen in the training session before the game: will he make it for the game or not?
According to reports from ESPNCricinfo, Salt might be in a totally different city for the birth, so whether he will travel to Ahmedabad for the match remains a big question. Both coach Andy Flower and captain Rajat Patidar chose to remain silent on the matter, perhaps trying to keep the situation under wraps on the eve of such a crucial game. Flower is a Man Known for keeping the affairs of his players to himself; he has, in fact, once had injured players engage in warm-up drills to throw off their opponents.
There is some information worth mentioning in relation to the absence of one Salt: there were other absentees in practice as well. At this point, we are not entirely sure, but it seems that Salt might already have gone home.

Salt is the rock in RCB this season, with 387 runs in 12 matches at a strike rate of 175.90 and an average of 35.18. Now, with Jacob Bethell away on international duty, if Salt is not there, it may give RCB some headache in deciding the openers. Tim Siefert is the key filling, and alongside him and Mayank Agarwal, with the possible inclusion of Virat Kohli, if Salt is not around.
