Despite being the top wicket-taker in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, Mohammed Siraj might not play in the 2025 Asia Cup.
Cricbuzz says Jasprit Bumrah will lead the pace attack along with Arshdeep Singh and either Harshit Rana or Prasidh Krishna.
Siraj has been getting a lot of attention after his 5 wicket haul at the Oval but his T20 record isn’t as good as some others. He had a decent IPL 2025 with 16 wickets but Prasidh (Purple Cap winner), Bumrah and Arshdeep all had more. Rana was the top bowler last season and played well against England this year.
On Saturday, the 31-year-old posted some pics of himself with his Range Rover on X and captioned them Grateful for the smiles and ride.
Siraj took 23 wickets in 5 matches in England, the most wickets in the series. This is his best performance in a Test series. He equalled Jasprit Bumrah’s record for most wickets (23) for India in a Test series.
Siraj has taken 4 or more wickets in an innings for India in England 7 times. He bowled 185.3 overs in the series, his most in a Test series, 1113 balls.
After the last Test against England, he said he felt great that he fought hard from day 1 and it turned out well. The plan was to keep it simple and consistent, not try too much and build pressure. He thought he could do it and used a Google photo as his wallpaper to remind himself. He also said if he had caught Brook properly, they might not have needed to play today, it was a game changing moment.
Despite his good performance in the England Test series, Siraj’s spot in the team is not guaranteed.
Jasprit Bumrah will lead the pace, Arshdeep Singh and either Prasidh Krishna or Harshit Rana will also be included.

Hardik Pandya will also be included as a pacer. Mohammed Shami won’t be considered as he last played for India in their last T20I against England. Kuldeep Yadav, Varun Chakaravarthy and vice-captain Axar Patel will lead the spin attack. Washington will be included after his last appearance in February’s T20I squad.
The report also says Test captain Shubman Gill might not be selected unless head coach Gautam Gambhir argues for him strongly in the BCCI’s selection meeting in Mumbai on August 19.
He was the second-highest run-scorer in IPL 2025 and led the Gujarat Titans well for the second time but he played as an opener. Sanju Samson who scored three centuries in T20Is last year and Abhishek Sharma the top-ranked batter by ICC will be the main choices.
