After receiving his first call from India for Test cricket on an away tour of England, he thinks that James may have been used in county cricket and found the experience an enriching one. The young left-handed batsman scored 759 runs for Gujarat Titans in the IPL while narrowly losing against Mumbai Indian.
Sudharsan recently played some county games and was slated to join the India A team for a practice tour prior to the Test series, but with the Test team leaving for the UK on June 6, that seems unlikely.
“I think I played about seven county games, and it really helped me get better with my batting technique or going back to the basics. Basics are what matter most when batting,” Sudharsan told PTI. “So, I’ll just get back to what I have learned and be ready for the series.”
He added that he would be confident after the IPL but would find the transition to red-ball cricket quite hard: “After a long three months of playing white-ball cricket, my batting might change a bit. Focusing on the basics and getting back into the red-ball style will take some time, but we’ve got a little while before the series starts.”

“We were going to leave on the 4th after the IPL; we didn’t think about India A or Test team travel. Now with the Test team leaving on the 6th, we have to talk on how to proceed,” he added.
