Shahid Afridi said all teams have come to England to play cricket. He said politics and cricket should be separate. A player should be a good representative of his country and not a shame for it.
Pakistan team includes Afridi, Younis Khan, Sohail Tanvir, Wahab Riaz, Kamran Akmal and many other former players.
Organizers of World Championship of Legends said they were sorry for hurting Indian legends.
India and Pakistan were to play on Sunday, July 20. But due to intense social media criticism of Indian players playing against Pakistan two months after Pahalgam attack, the organizers cancelled the match.
Afridi told media, We are here to play cricket and I have always said that cricket should be separate from politics and should continue. Players should be good ambassadors not a source of shame for their country.
Afridi added. We have come here to play cricket. If India didn’t want to play against Pakistan they should have declined before coming. But now you have come, practiced and then changed your mind in a day.
Kamil Khan, owner of Pakistan Champions, confirmed that World Championship of Legends will go as per schedule without any changes.

Kamil said, All remaining matches will take place. Tournament is going as per schedule without any changes. We are saying that if we make it to semifinals with four teams, matches between the two teams will be avoided
Kamil added, If we reach the final, decisions will be made then. And for this match we will take two points as we earned them under the rules.
Shikhar Dhawan, former Indian opener, posted on X saying he won’t play against Pakistan.
