Shardul Thakur, the medium-pacer from India, is going to take Mohsin Khan’s spot on the Lucknow Super Giants. There’s still a question mark over whether Mayank Yadav will play in the 2025 IPL since he’s still recovering from an injury he got last year during the Bangladesh T20Is.
Thakur has been practicing with the team for the 2025 IPL and will sub for the hurt Mohsin on the team led by Rishabh Pant.
The Times of India says that Thakur knows about this and will head to Vishakhapatnam with the team for their first game against the Delhi Capitals.
Mohsin hurt his ACL, so he hasn’t been able to bowl since December. Then, he strained his calf when he started bowling in the Lucknow nets. With their main fast bowlers still getting better at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence, the managers had to get an injury replacement.
The Indian pace attack has Akash Deep, Avesh Khan, and Mayank, but they haven’t joined the Indian Premier League team yet. Akash and Mayank are at the CoE, and Avesh hasn’t met up with the team after healing from a knee injury.
Mayank has started bowling lightly in the nets, but he’s not ready to play in games yet.
From a side strain to a hamstring issue to problems in both sides of his back, Mayank’s body has been through a lot, and he hasn’t played in a real game in about five months.
Even if Mayank is cleared to join Lucknow, it will still be hard for him to play the whole season.
Zaheer Khan, the mentor, said that the situation is changing for some players because of injuries. They need to find the good in the situation and deal with it. Some players are at the National Cricket Academy, and others are with their physical therapists.
Without their main fast bowlers, Thakur will now lead the group because he’s the most experienced bowler there.
