Gill’s century helped India tie the 4th Test of the 2025 Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy at Old Trafford in Manchester. This tie gives India a chance to not lose the series as they head to the final Test at the Oval.

Gill’s century at Old Trafford is his 4th in the series. He’s only the 3rd player to score 4 centuries in a series as captain, after Don Bradman (Australia vs India, 1947) and Sunil Gavaskar (India vs West Indies, 1978).
Gill is the first to do it in a series played away from home, beating Bradman’s record set in 1938. Before this, 9 visiting captains had managed to score 3 centuries in a series.
Gill has scored 722 runs in the series so far, averaging 90.25 in 4 matches. He’s scored a century in each of the 4 times he’s crossed 50. In the Edgbaston Test, he scored 430 runs with scores of 269 and 161. Before that, he made 147 in the first Test at Leeds.

Gill is the 3rd Indian to score over 700 runs in a series, after Yashasvi Jaiswal (vs England, 2024) and Sunil Gavaskar (vs West Indies, 1971 and 1978).
His 4 centuries ties Sunil Gavaskar (vs West Indies, 1971) and Virat Kohli (vs Australia, 2014) for the most centuries by an Indian in a series. All 3 of these were away from home.He’s 2nd visiting player after Bradman (1930) to score 4 centuries in a series.
