The ICC Women’s ODI Cricketer of 2024 was awarded to Smriti Mandhana, the young and gifted opener of the Indian cricket team, with her so far unrivaled achievement of scoring oodles of runs that year as a left-handed batter. Four years earlier, the Indian vice-captain was named ICC Women’s Cricketer of 2018 and of 2022. She became an unprecedented achievement by making 747* runs in 13 innings, thus setting a new benchmark in the world of women’s India can imagine many a batting specialist left behind, which may include the very Laura Wolvaardt of South Africa, Tammy Beaumont of England (554), or Hayley Matthews of West Indies.
The runs she piled up is the most among the main run-getters for Women’s ODIs in 2024. It clearly leaves behind Wolvaardt (697), Beaumont (554), and Matthews (469).
Four centuries in ODIs during the year, a feat accomplished in a women’s game for the first time in Twenty-first Century, and more than a hundred crosses to the boundary through her scoring of ninety-five fours and six sixes, exemplified her achievements.

Against New Zealand in October, there was another brilliant hundred in the final match of the series. And upholding the first-inning tradition of working even bigger at the best bowling in the world, she even brought about a thundering ton in a losing battle in Perth from Australia in December.
Team India failed to win the match , yet the phenomenal hundred by Mandhana, scoring 105 runs on the WACA in Perth, truly inched the defending world champions a bit closer to the target.
In spite of India’s batting struggle and continuous loss of wickets from one end Mandhana remained constant and played an anchor role. She scored a phenomenal hundred which includes 14 boundaries in just 109 deliveries.
