Diogo Jota has died in a car crash aged 28 in Spain. His brother was with him. Sky Sports reports.

According to the Zamora Provincial Council in Spain, Two people died in an accident on the A-52 (Palacios de Sanabria). Firefighters from Rionegro del Puente attended. The vehicle caught fire and spread to the nearby vegetation. The victims were 28 and 26 years old. RIP.
Jota started his career in his hometown of Porto, Portugal, playing for Pacos de Ferreira academy before joining Atletico Madrid in 2016. He didn’t play for Atletico Madrid and was later loaned back to Porto. In 2018 he signed with Wolverhampton Wanderers, also known as Wolves, under Portuguese manager Nuno Espirito Santo for two years.

In September 2020 he joined Liverpool. With the Reds he won this season’s Premier League 2024-25. He was also on the Liverpool team that lost to Real Madrid 1-0 in the 2021/22 Champions League final where he came on as a sub. This season he played 26 games for Liverpool scoring 6 goals.
Jota made his debut for the Portugal national team in November 2019. He played in Euro 2022 and 2024 but missed the 2022 World Cup due to injury. In May he was part of the Portugal team that won the UEFA Nations League, beating Spain in penalties for their second title.
