Stuart Broad, the England great, was full of praise for India captain Shubman Gill. Gill was calm and patient on day one of the second Test at Edgbaston despite his team struggling against England’s quick bowlers.
He eased the pressure and kept the runs coming with some good batting. He got to his fifty with a nice four. Broad said Gill was being patient and it looked like he was going to bat all day. He’s got a very calm nature and is the sort of captain you’d like to play for.
Even after scoring 50 he was patient and controlled the game against England’s young bowlers. He swept part time spinner Joe Root for a four and then hit the ball to complete a hundred in Birmingham off 199 balls. He mixed caution with aggression to produce another good innings.
Broad said it was a wonderful patient Test innings from Shubman Gill. He’s worked hard for his second hundred as captain in his second Test. He’s stayed calm and his team are enjoying every run he’s made so far.
