Heinrich Klaasen is recognized as one of the principal sluggers in the world of cricket and during the IPL 2025 auction was the most costly keeper of the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) team. Though he was paid 23 crores and performed reasonably well, the recent months have seen a slight change in the scenario.
The wicketkeeper-batter has hung his gloves from international cricket and lighter MLC and The Hundred output. This has raised questions about his effectiveness, and there are rumors now that SRH may cut him loose. They could pay a lesser amount and still get him back but that would mean opening up a path for other franchises to pick up a player of Klaasen’s caliber and he would be in great demand at the auction.
Hence, these are the three IPL franchises that can acquire Heinrich Klaasen at the coming auction
Rajasthan Royals
Rajasthan Royals experienced a bad IPL 2025, and one of their main issues was the lack of a reliable finisher. The combination of Shimron Hetmyer and Dhruv Jurel couldn’t save many chases and RR needs more strength towards the end of their innings.
Thus, Heinrich Klaasen can be a great choice to occupy the number five or six slot in their batting order. He has what it takes to adjust the gears in a flash and can turn the match with his attacking style. RR is also likely to release Shimron Hetmyer, whose retention cost was 12 crores, and that will enable them to accumulate a huge amount. There might be other big-name exits as well, which would put RR in a position to pursue Heinrich Klaasen vigorously without being bothered about his high price.

Kolkata Knight Riders
Kolkata Knight Riders IPL 2025 was disappointing after the 2024 season title win, and they are considering to buy new players completely for their next match. The management has already changed, and the start players are going to include Venkatesh Iyer, who was bought for 23.75 crore, up to the point of the team’s actual auction.
Now, they will have a lot of extra money to spend on the auction which will assist them buy some big players in the auction. So, in case Heinrich Klaasen is available, they are probably going to pursue him with full passion. He would be an asset for their middle order, and he with the bat would be a source of power that they lacked in the previous season. Moreover, Andre Russell is finishing his career, and thus, Klaasen can be a good substitute as a reliable finisher.
Further, if Klaasen were to be acquired, he would be stepping into the wicket-keeper’s role in place of the existing KKR duo of Quniton de Kock and Gurbaz who are expected to be released after a dismal season.
Chennai Super Kings
The five-time winners Chennai Super Kings were at the bottom of the League table in season 2025 and thus are planning to completely revise their game plan. Ashwin has retired and CSK will not be paying his salary of 10 crore, which a non-performing player has probably so far cost the franchise.
Hence, they would present a large amount of money in the auction and they will do so in a way as to get the right player for the middle and lower order of hitters in their batting lineup. In the previous season, they faced difficulty to be aggressive in their batting, especially during the last overs, and having Klaasen would mean the provision of firepower that is desperately needed.
Apart from that, Heinrich Klaasen is a master against spin bowling and thus he is an ideal candidate for the venue of CSK’s home matches, therefore a South African will be the perfect fit for the Yellove Army.
