To make it to the final, PBKS advanced from the eliminator after defeating Mumbai Indians. PBKS bowled first after MI was tog get 203 runs, taking 2 wickets-with the name of Azmatullah Omarzai coming across. The target was chased successfully by PBKS, with Shreyas Iyer leading the charge to an unbeaten 87 off 41 balls, winning by five wickets in 19 overs.
The biggest eyes are, of course, on Virat Kohli, who is about to achieve a gigantic record. He has had a major role to play for RCB; he has amassed 614 runs in 14 matches, including eight half-centuries, and if he adds a further 86 runs, he will be the first player ever to…in three different IPL seasons; not even Tendulkar could reach this feat. Kohli had scored 973 runs in 2016 and 741 runs in 2024, tying with Chris Gayle who did it in 2012 and 2013.

RCB would like to get on with their fourth IPL final, while PBKS is playing in their first since 2014. There have been 36 clashes between both teams in IPL, with 18 matches each, but RCB has won 4 of the last 5 matches. This will be the second time that both teams would contest at this ground.
