Ajinkya Rahane, the captain of Kolkata Knight Riders, recently had a moment that caught a lot of attention when he candidly talked to his Mumbai mate and Punjab Kings captain, Shreyas Iyer, about how poorly his team had played. This all went down after KKR faced a tough 16-run loss, chasing a pretty small target of just 112 runs. You could really feel the excitement from Iyer, who was overjoyed after leading his team to an unexpected victory.
During the chase, KKR got off to a shaky start, quickly finding themselves at 7 runs for 2 wickets in the second over. But then things started to look up a bit when Rahane teamed up with Angkrish Raghuvanshi and they managed to form a solid partnership, chipping away at the target and bringing their side closer to what seemed like a win. Unfortunately, a poor choice by Rahane led to his wicket, and after that, it felt like things just fell apart for Kolkata.

They ended up getting bowled out for only 95 runs, which is really a tough pill to swallow when you think about how they started. As the Punjab team celebrated their win, they lined up for the usual post-match handshakes. When it came time for Rahane and Iyer to meet, Rahane didn’t hold back in expressing how disappointed he was in the batting performance. In a clip that quickly made the rounds on social media, you could hear him say something like, Kya faltu batting kari humne, which translates to him acknowledging that it was a really poor performance.
Was watching the #PBKSvKKR game and caught this funny bit as Shreyas and Rahane shook hands at the end. In a self-deprecating way Rahane appears to be saying to Shreyas in Marathi : काय फालतू बॅटिंग केली ना आम्ही (We played terrible, didn't we) 😂😂 pic.twitter.com/bNkC7TXGbU

On another note, this match marked a historic moment in the Indian Premier League, as Punjab managed to defend the lowest total ever, managing to beat KKR despite their struggles. At one point, Kolkata was sitting pretty at 71 runs for 3 wickets in the 10th over, looking like they could pull off a win. However, what followed was nothing short of shocking as they crumbled to the bowling of Punjab. They lost seven wickets and only added 24 runs in the next six overs to find themselves all out.

Yuzvendra Chahal was the standout bowler who played a big role in turning the game in Punjab’s favor. He took four wickets for 28 runs, really changing the course of the match by getting Rahane (who scored 17 runs), Raghuvanshi (with 37 runs), Rinku Singh (just 2 runs), and Ramandeep Singh (a duck) out. The most dramatic part was when he dismissed the last two batsmen in back-to-back deliveries during the 12th over, sealing the deal for Punjab.
Looking ahead, Kolkata Knight Riders are set to play against the Gujarat Titans at home on April 21, and they’ll surely be looking to bounce back from this loss with a much better performance.
