Chasing 197 runs, CSK struggled despite a brief effort from MS Dhoni, who scored 30 runs off 16 balls while batting lower in the order. Hazlewood was sharp, taking 3 wickets for just 21 runs in four overs. RCB’s captain, Rajat Patidar, made a quickfire 51 off 32 balls, supported by Kohli and Phil Salt, who both chipped in with thirties, setting a total of 196/7.
Chennai faced early setbacks with Hazlewood taking two early wickets, including that of captain Ruturaj Gaikwad, who was out for a duck. Bhuvneshwar Kumar also picked up a wicket, leaving CSK struggling at 26-3. Yash Dayal took 2 wickets for 18 runs, while Liam Livingstone had 2 for 28.
Jadeja and Shivam Dube tried to stabilize the innings, but CSK could only manage 146-8. Patidar shared that his innings were crucial, noting they aimed for 200 runs to make it tough for CSK to chase. Kohli had a tough match as well, scoring 31 runs off 30 balls before being dismissed by Afghan spinner Noor Ahmad, who was the standout bowler for Chennai with figures of 3-36. CSK’s captain Gaikwad mentioned that poor fielding was a factor in their loss.
