This is the question that will be in everybody’s mind until the moment Tim David steps out to bat: “Will Tim David be playing today?” With the Australian all-rounder having been the star performer for Royal Challengers Bangalore this season, particularly with his power hitting, his availability for the final is now in doubt following a hamstring injury sustained in a game against Sunrisers Hyderabad. He was injured while fielding and missed the next two games for RCB, which included the crucial Eliminator and Qualifier games.
Before the IPL 2025 final, Rajat Patidar was non-committal about David’s status saying that they were waiting to hear an update from the medical team. “I have no idea about Tim David. Doctors will let us know this evening,” he said at the press conference.

His ambiguity stoked further speculation and apprehensions about David’s playing chances, particularly when considering how well he played earlier this season. He scored 187 runs at an impressive strike rate of 185 and an average of 64 in the matches he played. One of his great moment came against PBKS, when he hit his first-ever IPL half-century to show why RCB would like him in the final.

Even without him lately, the Royal Challengers Bangalore have shown that they can bounce back. Both of their last matches were won: the one against LSG in the final group-stage game and against PBKS in Qualifier 1. Right now, Tim David’s participation is still unclear, and the medical team will finalize the decision a couple of hours before the toss. If given the go-ahead, it is still doubtful that the team would embarrass themselves by putting him out there with little cricket under his belt in such a big game.
