In the press conference after Day 1 of the Leeds Test, Jaiswal said, I love it every time I score a century but some moments are truly special. He joined the list of former Indian captains like Saurav Ganguly and Murali Vijay who all scored tons in their first Test innings in England.
This was on Day 1 of the first Test of a five match series at Leeds which is the start of the 2025-27 World Test Championship for both teams. Among players with at least 5 Tests and 500 runs against England, Jaiswal has the best average. In 6 Tests he has scored 813 runs in 10 innings with 3 hundreds and 3 fifties.

He is the 7th Indian to score a hundred at Headingley. This is his 5th Test hundred and interestingly none of his five hundreds have been against Asian teams. He has scored hundreds in his first Test in Australia, West Indies and now England. Three of his hundreds have been against England, one each against Australia and West Indies. Jaiswal was out for 101, bowled by England captain Ben Stokes just after Tea on Day 1.
