Former Indian all-rounder Yuvraj Singh had a great deal to praise Virat Kohli, addng that the 36-year-old right-handed batter from Delhi is the finest batter within our generation. After making his international debut during an ODI match played against Sri Lanka on August 18, 2008, Kohli scored 27,381 runs in the first 545 matches he participated in. From the beginning till now, he has scored a total of 13,963 runs at 297 ODIs, and Thursday, when he competes for India during the first Champions Trophy 2025 match, would be his chance to surpass Sachin Tendulkar by entering the column of fastest batters to score 14,000 ODI runs. He is given another chance to surpass Ricky Ponting in the list of players recording the most runs in international cricket-for that, he requires at least 103 runs on Thursday.
Speaking on the Star Sports show in the build-up to the high-voltage India-Pakistan Champions Trophy 2025 match on Sunday, February 23, Yuvraj praised Kohli by saying, “I call him King Kohli, and as far as form is concerned, it goes up and down during the 15-18 years of a career, but you should see his graph. I think, of our generation, he is the best of all formats, there is no comparison.”

Availing a horrible run of form during the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Kohli scored an unbeaten century (100) in the second innings of the first Test at Optus Stadium, to finish the series with only 190 runs.
The former captain of India will be playing against the Bangladeshi team in Dubai on Friday, and he wants to pick up from where he last left in the third ODI against England. He made a score of 52 runs as No. 3 batter at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad during the third ODI of the bilateral series between India and England last week.
In his last ODI match for India against Bangladesh, Kohli scored a superb century at the Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) Stadium in Pune on October 19, 2023, and in his last international match at Dubai International Cricket Stadium as well, Kohli has a century (122* off 61 balls) to his name.
