Yuzvendra Chahal seems to be having a difficult time in recent days, especially following the Punjab Kings‘ loss to Royal Challengers Bengaluru by just six runs on Tuesday at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Despite having a wonderful season, winning nine out of 14 games and sitting on top of the table, Punjab ended up stumped twice against RCB in the playoffs.
This loss was a huge milestone for Chahal, marking him as the first player to lose three IPL finals with three different teams. He lost the first big final with RCB in 2016 narrowly to Sunrisers Hyderabad by eight runs. Then, in 2022 with Rajasthan Royals, he again went down in the final against Gujarat Titans, this time in Ahmedabad. His lone IPL win was in 2013 with Mumbai Indians.
Chahal made his IPL debut for Mumbai Indians against KKR in 2013 and ended with figures of 0/34, in four overs. He is the all-time highest wicket-taker in IPL with 221 scalps. This season, he almost hit full form midway through by taking a hat-trick against the Chennai Super Kings at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, where he dismissed Deepak Hooda, Anshul Kamboj, and Noor Ahmad in the last over for his second IPL hat-trick. Overall, he remained 15th in the Purple Cap standings with 16 wickets in 14 matches and best figures of 4/28.
