Zimbabwean fans can rejoice as the 39-year-old leg-spinner Graeme Cremer, after a seven-year absence, is returning to international cricket. On Friday, the Zimbabwe Cricket Board revealed the 15-member squad for the soon-to-start Twenty20 International (T20I) series versus Afghanistan that will be held in Harare on October 29, 31, and November 2.
The selectors have shown trust in those players who performed well by basically maintaining the same squad that recently helped Zimbabwe qualify for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. Cremer’s inclusion, who comes in for fast bowler Trevor Gwandu, is the only alteration.
Cremer was last seen in a Zimbabwe jersey in 2018 before he went taking time off cricket. During his time off, he relocated to the UAE where his wife works as an airline pilot and he played golf in his leisure time.

He came back to Zimbabwe and started playing local cricket with the hope of getting a chance to represent his country again, which is the case now as he has been determined all along.
A team captain Sikandar Raza will head a confident and well-balanced squad combining experienced players with promising youths. The pace attack will be led by Richard Ngarava and Blessing Muzarabani, while the wicketkeeper position will witness the return of Brendan Taylor to international cricket. The likes of Brian Bennett, Tadiwanashe Marumani, Brad Evans, and Tashinga Musekiwa, who are all considered promising, have not been dropped, thanks to their solid performances in recent games.
On the other hand, the veteran all-rounder Sean Williams is still out of action because of personal reasons.
