A fire incident temporarily stopped the Big Bash League match between Brisbane Heat and Hobart Hurricanes at The Gabba. The fire was reported near the DJ area during the Hurricanes’ chase of 202 runs. At the time, they were cruising at 47/0 in 4 overs, thanks to a fiery start by openers Caleb Jewell (25 off 14) and Mitchell Owen (20 off 10).

The fire broke out around 4:11 IST (10:41 GMT). Police and security quickly evacuated fans from the affected area. While initially not deemed severe, the players were taken off the field for safety as a precaution. The fire was soon brought under control, with officials confirming no overs would be lost. The match will continue after a short break, ensuring the safety of all present remains the top priority.
