As India gets ready to face England in the Test series starting Friday at Headingley, captain Shubman Gill said 20 wickets is the key to winning. At the pre-match press conference, Gill said while runs matter, it’s the bowlers who can swing the Test match. You can’t win a Test match without taking 20 wickets, no matter how many runs you score, he said.
Gill said the team is thinking about how to get those wickets. They’re also thinking about having a balanced team, maybe six main batsmen, one all-rounder and three or four fast bowlers.
India wants to start the series on a good note especially since the bowlers will be key in tackling the English side under new conditions which are a bit different from the usual English summer. This summer has been a little dry. I’m just waiting to check the wicket one last time before we finalise the team, he said.

It’s a fresh start for India in Test cricket as they begin this series without big names like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. Shubman Gill being the youngest Test captain for India is stepping up to lead the team as they look to win and compete for the World Test Championship trophy.
