Delhi Capitals (DC) have decided not to retain star wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant ahead of IPL 2025. Instead, they announced the retention of four players: India’s spin duo Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav, South African Tristan Stubbs, and uncapped wicketkeeper Abishek Porel. This decision reflects a strategic approach as the franchise prepares for the upcoming auction.

Kuldeep Yadav (Rs13.25 crore)
The wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav, retained by Delhi Capitals for INR 13.25 crore, is currently India’s best T20I spinner and played a pivotal role in India’s T20 World Cup 2024 victory. He is a consistent wicket-taker for DC, having taken 16 wickets in 11 matches during the 2024 season, proving to be very effective on Indian pitches. As a key player, he will be retained by DC ahead of IPL 2025.
Axar Patel (Rs 16.50 crore)
Just like the above two, all-rounder Axar Patel is also a core player for Delhi Capitals in the IPL, retained for INR 16.50 crore. He has been a solid performer for the team, playing a significant role in the T20 World Cup 2024. With a winner’s title under his belt, he would become a hot buy if he entered the auction. Axar took 11 wickets and scored 235 runs with the bat, making him a crucial asset for the franchise.

Tristan Stubbs (Rs 10 crore)
Delhi Capitals (DC) has been retained Tristan Stubbs for 10 crore, who has proven to be a potential match-winner down the order. The South African star scored 378 runs for DC in 2024, averaging 54 with an impressive strike rate of 190.90. His ability to perform in pressure situations makes him a valuable asset for the team. With this retention, DC is looking to strengthen their lineup ahead of the IPL 2025 auction.
Abhishek Porel (Rs 4 crore)
Delhi Capitals has been retained Wicketkeeper-batsman Abhishek Porel for IPL 2025 at INR 4 crores as uncapped players, showed a lot of potential this season. He was used in different positions and took advantage of every chance he got, proving his skills.
