Michael Clarke, the former Australian captain and batting great, has skin cancer again. The 43-year-old posted on social media that a lesion was removed from his nose. He posted a photo of the procedure and told everyone to get their skin checked.
Skin cancer is serious, especially here in Australia. I had another one cut off my nose today, Clarke wrote. Just a heads up to get your skin checked. It’s always better to prevent it in the first place but for me getting regular check ups and catching it early is what matters. He also thanked his doctor for catching it early.
Clarke had skin cancer in 2006. In 2019 he had three non-melanoma lesions removed. He made sure everyone knew how important it was to protect themselves from the sun.

Another day, another skin cancer off my face… young people make sure you’re doing everything you can to protect yourself from the sun, he wrote in one of his previous posts.
Clarke played for Australia from 2004 to 2015, 115 Tests, 245 ODIs, 34 T20Is. He’s remembered for his stylish batting and smart cricket brain. He captained Australia in 74 Tests (47 wins) and 139 ODIs. He led the team to the 2015 World Cup and a 5-0 Ashes series win in 2013-14. His aggressive style and ability to perform under pressure makes him one of Australia’s all-time greats.
Australia has some of the highest rates of skin cancer in the world, mostly because of high UV radiation, where it is located geographically and a population of fair skinned people. Stats show 2 out of 3 Australians will get some form of skin cancer by the time they turn 70.
Clarke has stressed how important awareness and prevention is based on what he’s gone through. I’m a dad and I want to be around. The most important thing for me is being there for my 7 year old daughter and setting a good example, Clarke said earlier.
Clarke hopes his story will remind people especially young people to be careful with sun protection and get regular health checks. Protect yourself and keep an eye on your health is super important to do as a precaution.
