There are no two ways about the fact that IPL is a revelation for the young players as far as chances are concerned. The opportunity to show yourself and your skills is given without any doubt.
The IPL has been the platform where many youngsters have displayed their skills since the year 2008, and some of them got it at a younger age.
We will now present you with the list of the top five youngest players who made their IPL debut.
5. Pradeep Sangwan – 17 Years and 179 Days
Pradeep Sangwan was the player who was believed to be the next big thing back in 2008. His performance was so good that he got an IPL contract with the Delhi Daredevils in the very first season.
The IPL saw the youngest player, Pradeep Sangwan, 17 years, and 179 days old on May 2, 2008, when he made his debut. He kept this record for almost a decade.
However, the debut was not something to remember for Sangwan, despite all the skills. Sangwan’s first match was against CSK in which he bowled 4 overs and conceded 40 runs while failing to take a wicket.
4. Riyan Parag – 17 Years and 152 Days
Riyan Parag who had been a part of the Indian squad for the 2018 Under-19 World Cup created a record in the IPL 2019. The Rajasthan Royals (RR) picked up the all-rounder from Assam for the minimum amount that he was auctioned at.
The Rajasthan Royals (RR) made a big decision and gave him a debut against CSK on April 11, 2019, when he was just 17 years and 152 days old.
Though Riyan’s debut was not impressive, as he scored 16 runs and gave away 24 runs in bowling, he still made a record. The IPL has been made the youngest batter to score fifty at 17 years and 175 days, which is the record of the player scoring his first 50 runs in the IPL at that age.
In the same IPL 2025, Riyan still managed to be the fourth-youngest captain among the league players. He was the young captain at 23 years and 133 days when he led the Rajasthan Royals (RR) on his debut.
3. Mujeeb Ur Rahman – 17 Years and 11 Days
Mujeeb Ur Rahman was already 17 years old on March 28, 2018. And he made his IPL debut in the next 11 days.

The Afghan spinner first appeared for Kings XI Punjab against Delhi Daredevils on April 08, 2018. The leg spinner had a good start to his IPL career, his first match were 2 for 28, while he got 14 wickets in total through 11 matches.

Prayas Ray Barman was the former record holder, and like most of the players above, his debut was not a remarkable one.
Prayas was 16 years and 157 days old when RCB gave him his debut cap. RCB was playing against Sunrisers Hyderabad on March 31, 2019.
Prayas was brought into the attack in the 7th over, bowled a tidy over, but then the experienced batsman, Jonny Bairstow, devastated the young leg spinner in his next three overs.
Consequently, Prayas ended up with figures of 0 for 56 in his four-over spell. After this, he was never seen in the league again.
