India have an enormous domestic circuit where a number of teams play different tournaments for first-class, list A, and t20 cricket. Duleep Trophy is one of the oldest red-ball tournaments in India, which has been played since 1961–62. This tournament has hosted a total of 61 editions so far and has given some big names to the Indian senior men’s cricket team.

10. Dhiraj Parsana
Former Gujarat bowler Dhiraj Parsana was equipped with the ability to bowl spin and pace both. He had a pretty successful domestic career with 320 FC wickets and 2946 runs. In the Duleep Trophy, he played for two teams: the North and West Zones. In 16 matches, he took a total of 70 runs at one of the best bowling averages (18.55) in the tournament’s history. Dhiraj took four fifers and a best of 7/46.

9. Padmakar Shivalkar
India have a history of producing left-arm orthodox spinners like we have Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Sai Kishore, and many others. Padmakar Shivalkar was one of those who mastered this arti initially and took it to another level. He took 589 wickets in FC cricket between 1962 and 1988. Padmakar played 15 matches in the Duleep Trophy for West Zone and took 71 wickets at an average of 19.11. He took five fifers with a best of 7.29.
8. Utpal Chatterjee
Former Bengal spinner Utpal Chatterjee took most wickets for East Zone in the Duleep Trophy history. He played 26 matches in this tournament and picked up 82 wickets with a best bowling figure of 6/115. Utpal took five four-wicket hauls and three fifers. In his FC career, he took 504 wickets and scored 2699 runs in 129 matches.
7. Madan Lal
17 runs with the bat and 3/31, including the wicket of Viv Richards, were the stats for Madan Lal in the final of the 1983 World Cup, which India won. This legend has represented North Zone in his Duleep Trophy career. He has been one of the finest all-rounders at domestic level. He played 29 matches and took 82 wickets with a best of 7/49 and five fifers. He also scored 1396 runs with three centuries in the Duleep Trophy.

6. Maninder Singh
Maninder Singh played international cricket for India between 1982 and 1993 and took 154 international wickets in 84 matches. He played for North Zone in the Duleep Trophy and took 83 wickets for them in just 21 matches at a bowling average of 24.12. Maninder took six four-wicket hauls and five fifers with a best of 6/23.

5. Erapalli Prasanna
Former Indian offspinner Erapalli Prasanna was India’s go-to bowler during his playing days. He played 49 Tests and took 189 wickets with a best of 8/76. In FC cricket, he took 953 wickets. After his retirement, he became a cricket referee. Prasanna played 24 games for South Zone and took 83 wickets at 22.26 and a best of 6/19. The off-spinner took six fifers in this tournament’s history.
4. Srinivas Venkataraghavan
Former Chennai off-spinner Srinivas Venkataraghavan played for India between 1965 and 1983. He played 57 tests and took 156. Though he couldn’t carry on his domestic success to international cricket as he had 1390 wickets in 341 FC games. Srinivas played 26 matches for South Zone and took 95 wickets with a best of 6/26 and five five-wicket and five four-wicket hauls each.

3. Bhagwath Chandrasekhar
Bhagwath Chandrasekhar was one of the legendary bowlers to play for India. He was one of the reasons that India started to win overseas with 42 wickets in just five tests. Overall, he played 58 tests and took 242 wickets and was one of the successful spinners that India produced. Bhagwath played 24 games in the Duleep Trophy for South Zone and took 99 wickets at 24.30 with a best of 8/80 and seven fifers.
2. Sairaj Bahutule
630 wickets and 6176 runs in 188 FC games are some of the achievements for former Mumbai all-rounder Sairaj Bahutule. He couldn’t have a great international success and played only two tests and six ODIs. But his domestic career was one of the best. In the Duleep Trophy, he played 30 matches for West Zone and took 112 wickets with a best of 6/41 and four fifers. SAiraj took the second-most wickets in Duleep Trophy history.

1. Narendra Hirwani
Former Indian spinner Narendra Hirwani started his international career with a bang. He showed that leg-spin can be a dangerous art for opposition before Shane Warne made it famous. Hirwani took 16/136 in his debut test against West Indies, and these are the best figures on a test debut ever. Hirwani played 29 tests for Central Zone and took 126 wickets with a best of 7/129, with ten four-wicket hauls and 8 fifers. He has most wickets in Duleep Trophy history.
