After Australia’s match against South Africa got abandoned and Afghanistan’s thrilling win against England, the AFG vs AUS has become a virtual quarterfinal as the winner of this match will qualify for the semis. Both teams have won a game each with Kangaroos getting a point against the Proteas while the Asian side losing to the 1998 winners. The semi finalists of Group B are yet to be decided.
The likes of Australia, Afghanistan and South Africa are in contention with the two-time finalists, England knocked out after losing two games. From Group A, the two semi finalists have been decided as former champions, India and New Zealand have won two games each while Pakistan and Bangladesh failed to win a single match, earning a point each after their match was abandoned.
Afghanistan vs Australia Head to Head record
Afghanistan is playing in the Champions Trophy 2025 for the first time. However, both teams have played each once in each of the ODI World Cup from 2015 to 2023. In the 2023 match, the Aussies managed to win the game from 91/7. This is the reason AFG has not won against AUS.
However, in the shortest format of the game, both teams have played each other in the T20 World Cup 2022 and 2024 edition. Three years back, AFG narrowly lost by four runs but won by 21 runs last year.
