In the world of cricket being the chairman of the International Cricket Council is the highest position one can hold. This position was introduced in the year 2014 when the rules of the ICC board were changed. It is a position which is desired by everyone who has been working in the administration of the sport.
Being the highest position everyone under the board is overseen by the chairman. Earlier the position of the president of ICC was the highest position in the ICC. Let’s have a look at the honorary people who have been at the position in ICC and have led the board since 2014.

1. N. Srinivasan
N. Srinivasan is from India and was previously the president of BCCI and he resumed his post as the first chairman of ICC from 26th of June in the year 2014. He continued his position as the chairman till 9th of November; 2015. His total time in the office was 1 year and 136 days.
2. Shashank Manohar
Shashank Manohar is from India and was elected in the elections of the year 2015 and succeeded the position of the chairman of ICC after N. Srinivasan. He joined the office on 22nd November in 2015 and resumed his post at the office till 30th June 2020.

3. Imran Khwaja
Imran Khwaja is from Singapore and was interim chairman of the ICC at the time of Shashank Manohar’s resignation. And he was given the title and duties of the chairman temporarily till the time of next elections. He was at the post for only 145 days.
4. Greg Barclay
Greg Barclay holds the citizenship of New Zealand and became the chairman of ICC on 24th of November in the year 2020 and resigned from the position on 30th of November in 2024. His tenure as the chairman of ICC was of 3 years and 6 days.

5. Jay Shah
Jay Shah is the newly appointed chairman of ICC and has joined the position recently on 1st of December 2024. He was elected for the post on 28th of August in the same year and has resumed the post very recently. Previously he was the secretary of Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and president of Asian Cricket Council (ACC).
He is the youngest chairman of the ICC ever elected. He won the elections for the post in an unopposed way and became the third Indian and fourth chairman of the ICC. Along with this he is also the fifth Indian to hold the highest authoritative position in the world of cricket.
It will be interesting to see how Jay Shah will lead the board and how he will work for the welfare of the sport in the coming years.
