In the Buzz, the star fast bowler from India, who sits at number one on the ICC Test bowler’s rankings, Jasprit Bumrah, bagged the ICC Test Cricketer of the Year 2024 award on Monday, January 27. The 31-year-old paceman has played 13 games for India this year and has claimed the prized scalps of 71 batters. Bumrah was the leading wicket-taker in the five-day format in the preceding year, having also led India to a comprehensive 295-run victory over Australia in the first Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy at Optus Stadium, Perth.
Bumrah becomes the sixth Indian player to win this prestigious award.

Rahul Dravid (2004)
Rahul Dravid, the previous captain and head coach of India, was the very first winner of the ICC Test Cricketer of the Year award. He got the top award for making a total of 803 runs in five matches for India in 2004. In 2004, Rahul Dravid had an average of 100.37 in Tests and scored two centuries and three fifties in 10 innings. His biggest score in 2004 was 233 against Australia at the Adelaide Oval.

Gautam Gambhir (2009)
Current head coach of India, Gautam Gambhir, was awarded the ICC Test Cricketer of the Year 2009 title. Gambhir has scored 727 runs at an average of 90.87 from five matches of Test cricket for India in 2009, making him the world’s number one Test batter. The runs included 4 centuries and 1 fifty.
Virender Sehwag (2010)
Former opening batter Virender Sehwag scored a majestic 1422 runs in 14 matches to secure the ICC Test Cricketer of the Year award in 2010. Sehwag was in sensational form for team India in 2010, scoring five centuries and eight fifties, while having taken nine wickets himself.

Ravi Ashwin (2016)
R Ashwin who bid adieu to international cricket in 2024 ending his international career as the second highest wicket taker for India in test Cricket. Ashwin won the ICC test cricketer of the year in 2016. In 12 matches played in 2016 Ashwin dismissed a total of 72 batters. Not only with the ball but the batsman Ashwin also rose to occasion as he contributed 612 runs with the bat in the same number of matches.

Virat Kohli (2018)
One of the biggest name in World Cricket, Virat Kohli has also won the ICC test cricketer of the year. The veteran already has over 9000 test runs. In 2018 Virat Kohli was in Red hot form Kohli played 13 tests scoring 1322 runs at an astonishing average of 55.08. Virat Kohli went on to score 5 hundreds and 5 fifties in the same number of matches.
