The new season of the IPL brings with it a new set of rules. The Board of Control for Cricket in India has partially released its recently approved code of conduct for the Indian team to all ten IPL franchises before the commencement of IPL 2025, with certain aspects that may astonish some.
The board came out with a string of rolling rules, after India had a dismal outing in under, where the Australians humiliated them in the Border-Gavaskar Series, trying to encourage a more serious and detached attitude towards the game: barring personal managers from traveling in the team bus, aside from limiting the presence of players’ families on tours.

It appears as if these same rules are now making an appearance in the next edition of the IPL in 2025, in a note issued by the BCCI, letting the teams know what SOPs would be followed.
As told to us by BCCI, “The players should use the team bus while coming for practice. Teams may travel in two batches; however, they have to travel on time.”
In a more bizarre ruling, it was also slated that the families of players wouldn’t be allowed in the dressing room, even on training days.
“On practice days, family members and friends of the team should not be allowed in the dressing room or on the field of play during the pre-tournament and tournament. Player family members and friends are permitted to travel in a separate vehicle and are allowed to watch team practices from the hospitality area.
“In order to send the list of extended support staff (throw-down specialist/net bowlers) for approval to the BCCI, one must obtain the order thereof. This would be applicable to temporary non-match day accreditations issued for such personnel; once approved by the BCCI,” the BCCI note stated further.

Besides that, fines will be imposed on players who do not carry their accreditation card to the venue, or appear at post-match presentations in baggy and sleeveless attire.
“The PMOA accredited staff shall beset the credentials on matchday! In case of an initial offense, a warning shall be issued. On a second offense, a monetary fine shall go to the team.
“In the post-match presentation, floppy hats and sleeveless jerseys are prohibited. A first warning will be issued for failure to comply. On the second instance, there will be a monetary penalty,” BCCI said.
Somewhat strangely, the BCCI also warned the batters not to hit the advertising LED board just beyond the boundary ropes.
“There needs to be proper area set in for deliberate hitting practice due to some players still opting to hit on the LED boards. We request teams to comply with this.
“Players and support staff are not to sit in front of the LED boards. The sponsorship team will mark off special areas across the FOP so that substitutes with towels and water bottles can sit there,” the statement read.
The 2025 edition of IPL is going to be from March 22 to May 25.
