Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are one of the most successful franchises in the IPL. And the reason behind their success is the bowlers they have had at their disposal.
From Dwayne Bravo to Ravindra Jadeja, many skilled bowlers contributed wholeheartedly to help CSK reach the top level. They stood up whenever the team needed a breakthrough while adding a bunch of wickets to their tallies.
On that note, here are the top 10 bowlers with the most wickets for CSK in IPL history.
10. Tushar Deshpande | 39 Wickets

After Dwayne Bravo bid adieu to CSK in 2022, Tushar Deshpande rose through the ranks to fill the void. He was effective in the death overs, often delivering crucial breakthroughs.
Deshpande made the most of each opportunity in 2023 and emerged as CSK’s highest wicket-taker in their title-winning campaign. He added 17 wickets to his tally in 2024 to end up with 39 scalps in 31 matches.
9. Muthiah Muralidaran | 40 Wickets

For the first three IPL seasons, CSK had the services of one of the best spinners in the world. The legendary Muthiah Muralidaran spearheaded Chennai’s spin attack.
The former Sri Lankan off-spinner turned up in the yellow jersey in 40 matches. And he picked up 40 wickets with an economy rate of 6.37.
8. Shadab Jakati | 45 Wickets

Shadab Jakati played a crucial role for CSK in the initial years. He often brought breakthroughs with his left-arm spin.
And he proved his talent within three matches of his debut in 2009 as he picked up consecutive four-wicket hauls. The next year, Jakati helped CSK win their first IPL title with his 13 important wickets.
But the rise of Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin meant he didn’t bowl much. Nonetheless, Jakati managed to pick up 45 wickets in 50 matches for CSK.

7. Mohit Sharma | 58 Wickets

CSK handed Mohit Sharma his IPL debut cap in 2013. And within a few matches, he became their ace pacer.
Sharma had a dream in his first two seasons, picking up 20 wickets in 2013 and 23 in 2014. His performance in 2014 even fetched him the Purple Cap.
Unfortunately, Sharma’s association didn’t last long with CSK, as he played 48 matches across four seasons and grabbed 58 wickets.
6. Shardul Thakur | 60 Wickets

Shardul Thakur joined CSK in 2018 and impressed everyone with his skilful medium pace. In his first season with the franchise, he picked up 16 wickets, helping the team win the IPL trophy.
Three seasons later, Thakur was at his best, as his 21 scalps powered CSK to another title triumph. In all, the right-arm pacer represented the franchise in 57 matches and added 60 wickets.
5. Albie Morkel | 76 Wickets

Albie Morkel was a reliable all-rounder for CSK between 2008 and 2013. It was his medium pace that helped him cement his place in the side.
The former South African player was a consistent wicket-taker throughout his days with the CSK. He played his last game for the franchise in 2013 to end up with 76 wickets in 78 matches.
4. Deepak Chahar | 76 Wickets

After CSK returned from their two-year ban, Deepak Chahar stood up as their lead pacer. He was MS Dhoni’s go-to bowler in powerplay overs, as he extracted swing with the new ball.
And in his six years of association with CSK, Chahar took 76 wickets in as many matches. His best performance came in the 2022 season, as he picked up 22 wickets in 14 games.
3. Ravichandran Ashwin | 90 Wickets

After almost a decade’s gap, Ravichandran Ashwin will be seen in all yellow. The 38-year-old off-spinner will return to his home franchise to spin his magic.
In his previous outing with CSK, which lasted for seven seasons, Ashwin picked up 90 wickets in 97 matches from 2009 to 2015. Now he is almost on the verge of reaching the 100-wicket milestone.

2. Ravindra Jadeja | 133 Wickets

Sir Ravindra Jadeja occupies the second spot on this list with 133 wickets. But he might soon steal the first spot, as he is a few wickets away from becoming the highest wicket-taker for CSK in the IPL.
The Indian all-rounder has contributed in all departments. But it’s his bowling that takes the cake.
Jadeja finishes his overs within minutes without giving a lot to the batters. And except for a couple of seasons, he has maintained his economy below eight.
1. Dwayne Bravo | 140 Wickets

Dwayne Bravo holds the pole position with the most wickets for CSK in the IPL. The Caribbean all-rounder was a vital member of the Chennai-based outfit.

The Trinidadian even won the Purple Cap twice, in 2013 with 32 scalps and in 2015 with 26 wickets. That’s enough to show how effective he was with the ball.
