Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) has once again donned their iconic green jersey in the IPL 2025 season, continuing their commitment to environmental sustainability through the ‘Go Green’ initiative. This tradition, which began in 2011, sees RCB wearing green in one match each season to promote eco-friendly practices and raise awareness about environmental issues.
The ‘Go Green’ Initiative: A Tradition Since 2011
RCB’s ‘Go Green’ campaign started in 2011 with the aim of encouraging fans to plant more trees and reduce global warming effects. Each season, the team selects a match where they swap their traditional red and black jerseys for a special green kit. This year, the green jersey was worn during the match against Rajasthan Royals at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on April 13, 2025.
RCB skipper Rajat Patidar highlighted the significance of the green jersey, stating, “This (green jersey) is to raise awareness to plant more trees.”

Sustainable Jerseys: Made from Recycled Materials
The green jerseys are crafted from PUMA’s RE:FIBRE fabric, which consists of 95% recycled polyester sourced from textile and plastic waste. This fabric is designed to be recycled multiple times without compromising quality. Fans are encouraged to return their jerseys next season in exchange for a new one, promoting a cycle of ‘Return. Recycle. Repeat.’
RCB’s Chief Operating Officer, Rajesh Menon, emphasized the importance of this initiative: “Our green jerseys are more than just a symbol; they are a call to action. As proud representatives of the Garden City, sustainability is a natural priority for us.”
