Jonathan Campbell made his entry in Zimbabwe cricket in style as he made a rare record in his debut match . Johnathan Campbell is currently captaining the Zimbabwe side which is up against Ireland for a test series. The first instalment of the series is currently being played at Queen’s sports club.
Campbell was awarded with the leadership duties as regular skipper Craig Ervine was unavailable for the match due to injury. Zimbabwe was dealt with another blow as their veteran all rounder Sean Willams was also out of this match due to injury.
An official confirmation from the cricket board made it clear that Jonathan Campbell will be leading Zimbabwe in the first test against Ireland. Prior to Jonathan Campbell his father Alistair Campbell was also captain of the side from 1996 to 2002.

Zimbabwe left arm pacer Blessing Muzarabani in red hot form the visitors won the toss and elected to field first. The Irish team were reduced to 31/5 before Mc Brine joined hands with Lorcan Tucker.
After seeing off Muzarabani who, picked up 7 wickets including captain Andy Balbirnie (9) and star batsman Paul Stirling (10). The added a crucial partnership of 51 for the sixth wicket.
Tucker was bowled for 33 by Trevor Gwandu ,prompting McBrine to take the bull by the horn, forming up a sturdy seventh-wicket partnership with Mark Adair; they added 127 runs.
