India won the Asia Cup 2025 Super 4 match against Pakistan in Dubai on Sunday by 6 wickets thanks to Abhishek Sharma’s blazing innings. Sharma’s performance not only won the match for India but also broke a world record.
Sharma smashed the Pakistani bowlers for 74 runs off 39 balls. His aggressive approach helped him achieve a new milestone of being the fastest to hit 50 sixes in T20I cricket in just 331 balls. He broke the previous record held by West Indies’ Evin Lewis who achieved it in 366 balls. Other players on the list are Andre Russell, Hazratullah Zazai and Suryakumar Yadav. He is the first batter to hit 50 T20I sixes in under 350 balls.

After the match, Sharma spoke about his partnership with Shubman Gill. Together they added 105 runs for the opening wicket and laid the foundation for India’s chase.
I didn’t like how they were coming at us so I went after them. I wanted to contribute to the team. “Gill and I have been playing together since school days. We enjoy playing with each other, we thought we would do it and today was the day. He was playing so well, I enjoyed it. If you see someone playing like this, it’s because the team is supporting me and they back me. That’s the intent I show and I’m practicing really hard and if it’s my day I’ll win it for my team,” Sharma said during the post-match presentation.
Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav praised Sharma and Gill.
The boys are really stepping up which makes my job easier. They showed a lot of character and stayed calm during India’s bowling innings. After the first 10 overs I told them the game starts now. That’s fine, he’s not a robot he will have a bad day someday (talking about Bumrah). Dube rescued us. Abhishek and Gill complement each other perfectly; they’re like fire and ice. After the first innings our fielding coach, T Dilip, has emailed all players who had butter fingers today,” Yadav said.
