Anrich Nortje has pulled out of the MLC season 2025 due to an injury. At 31 he has had injuries before and was supposed to play for the Los Angeles Knight Riders which is tied to KKR. The team hasn’t said what the injury is but hopes he recovers soon. They’ve also announced that West Indies all-rounder Dominic Drakes will replace him for the 2025 season.
This would have been Nortje’s third season in the MLC. He played for Washington Freedom in the first season and then moved to MI New York in 2024. KKR bought him for 6.5 crores and transferred him to LAKR for this season. Unfortunately he didn’t get much playing time in IPL 2025, played only 2 matches and took 1 wicket.

Now 27 year old Dominic Drakes will be making his debut in the MLC, last played for West Indies in 2023. LAKR will start their season on June 15 against the San Francisco Unicorns.
Nortje’s injury problems are starting to worry teams looking to sign him, especially since he missed SA20 and 2025 Champions Trophy due to a back issue. He also sat out 2019 and 2023 World Cups, raising questions about his fitness for future events.
