So, Ben Duckett, the England opener, apparently deleted his X account (you know, Twitter) after he had to defend what he said about Jasprit Bumrah, the Indian fast bowler. Basically, Duckett said that since he’s faced Bumrah before, he knows what to expect when England hosts India for a Test series later this year, so he won’t be ‘surprised’.
He told the Daily Mail that he knows how much damage Bumrah can do, and he also praised Mohammed Shami.
Duckett said, I’ve played Bumrah in a five-Test series before. I know what he’s going to try, and the good thing is I know what he can do.
He thinks that there won’t be surprises. It’ll be tough, and Mohammed Shami’s red-ball skills are as dangerous as Bumrah’s. If he can just get through that first spell, he thinks he can score runs.
Duckett defended himself by saying he never said he’d do great against Bumrah and told someone on X to actually read the article before jumping to conclusions.
Screenshots of his replies have been circulating online after he deactivated his account.
Bumrah got Duckett out once during England’s tour of India last year. Bumrah was a big part of India’s 4-1 win, taking 19 wickets in four Tests.
Duckett also mentioned that even though India is tough to beat at home, they’re not as strong when they’re touring.
He said that India Away is very different than at home and that he felt his team could beat them and that it would be a good series.
