Chris Wood is winning applause for his heartfelt gesture and impeccable sportsmanship as the Hampshire bowler chose to not run out Matt Parkinson who got injured on the Non- strikers end during the ongoing clash of the T20 vitality Blast 2024.
Matt Parkinson from the Kent Spitfires was hit by a straight drive shot and got injured while running from the non-striker’s end, and was hurt badly as he fell on the ground, Chris wood had the opportunity to hit the wickets and mark a wicket in his name. Still, he chose to play it fairly and chose not to run out the Parkinson’s. His gesture is applauded by cricket fans who appreciate his fairness and sportsmanship.
Wood’s incredible gesture was witnessed in the 19th over of Kent’s innings when he bowled a full toss delivery to Joey Evinson on the striker’s end, he tried to hit it for boundaries but it hit the matt’s hand leaving him injured, and he fell on the ground being out of the crease.
Chris Wood had the ball as well as the opportunity to grab a wicket and run out Parkinson. However, the Hampshire bowler chose not to and went back to his bowling mark. Matt Parkinson quickly recovered and slowly walked back to the non-striker’s end.

The Vitality Blast and Chris’s Wood Spirit Won Hearts as well as the Match
The Vitality Blast T20 match witnessed great sportsmanship as well as the best Chris Wood scores that won hearts and matches for Hampshire. Playing against Hampshire, Kent’s scored 165/9 in 20 overs. Sam Billings scored 43 off 30 balls, and Daniel Bell-Drummond added 42 off 27 balls. Chris Wood was the standout bowler for Hampshire, taking 2/19 in his four overs.
Hampshire chased the target of 166 and won by three wickets with one ball to spare.
