A former Indian cricketer, Sourav Ganguly, narrowly escaped unhurt from an accident with his vehicle while proceeding to Bardhaman for an event. The accident happened at Dantanpur on the Durgapur Expressway.
As Ganguly was driving his Range Rover at normal speed, he was suddenly hit from behind by a truck. Following this, Ganguly’s driver slammed on the brakes, leading to a collision of the vehicles that were following Ganguly’s vehicle.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported from the incident, although two vehicles in Ganguly’s convoy were damaged. The former captain of the Indian cricket team had a 10-minute wait before resuming his journey towards the University of Burdwan for the scheduled event.
At the university event, Ganguly interacted with students and dignitaries on the future of Indian cricket. He also shared several anecdotes about his illustrious career.
In January, Ganguly’s daughter, Sana, narrowly escaped uninjured after her car was badly crushed by a bus in Behala, Kolkata. The bus rammed into Sana’s car at round 11:30 am near the Behala crossing on the Diamond Harbour road while it was returning to Raichak from Kolkata.
Last year, in October, Ganguly was appointed Director of Cricket for JSW Sports. His responsibility entailed all cricketing properties under JSW Sports: IPL and WPL Delhi teams, along with the Pretoria Capitals franchise in SA20.
While the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025 is underway, Ganguly actively mentors the Delhi Capitals Women’s team and has made major contributions by bringing in new talent in the team. He has worked with the Capitals on similar lines in T20 leagues including IPL, WPL, and ILT20.
