Harbhajan Singh, the former Indian cricketer, spoke about one of the worst times in his career: the slapgate with Sreesanth. On Ashwin’s YouTube show ‘Kutti Stories’, Harbhajan recalled a sad meeting with Sreesanth’s daughter where she didn’t want to talk to him.
The incident happened after a 2008 IPL match between Mumbai Indians and Kings XI Punjab in Mohali. Harbhajan was playing for Mumbai and lost his cool and slapped Sreesanth on the field. This led to a lot of bad publicity and Harbhajan was banned for the rest of the tournament.
Even after 15 years, Harbhajan Singh feels bad about what he did. He said The Sreesanth incident is one thing I’d change about my life. I want it gone from my career. What happened was wrong and I shouldn’t have done it. I’ve apologised to Sreesanth about 200 times.
He said the child didn’t want to talk to him because he had slapped her father. This bothered Harbhajan a lot as he thought he had scared a child. He hopes when Sreesanth’s daughter grows up, she will see him differently and think of him as an uncle.
Singh said It hurt me a lot even after so many years when I met his daughter. I was talking to her nicely but she said I don’t want to talk to you. You hit my father. It broke my heart and I almost cried. I wondered what kind of impression I had left on her. She probably thinks badly of me as the guy who hit her father. I felt terrible.

Singh said I still apologise to his daughter even though I can’t change what happened. I keep telling her If there’s anything I can do to make you feel better and show you I’m not a bad person please let me know. I hope when she grows up she won’t think of me that way and will see me as an uncle who is always there for her. That’s why I want to forget that part of my life. Despite all the apologies, it’s still remembered. Sreesanth says the real video was never released and Harbhajan elbowed him not slapped him.
Even with the controversy they have made up and are often seen together on shows. They are no more enemies but the memory will stay with cricket fans forever.
