Harbhajan Singh stirred up some controversy while commentating on the IPL match between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Rajasthan Royals on Sunday. He compared Jofra Archer to London’s black taxis, and that didn’t sit well with many folks on social media.
In the 18th over of SRH’s innings, Archer was hit for a couple of boundaries by Heinrich Klaasen, which led Harbhajan to joke about Archer’s performance. He said, “In London, the black taxi’s meter runs fast, and Archer’s meter was running like that today too.” Unfortunately, this comment got him a lot of backlash, with users calling for an apology.

Archer had a rough day on the field, setting an unwanted record for the most runs conceded in an IPL match. He gave up 76 runs in just four overs, breaking the previous record of 73 runs held by Indian bowler Mohit Sharma. His day was tough from the start; he gave away 23 runs in his first over, followed by 12 in the second. In the 13th over, he was hit for another 22 runs, and then he ended his outing by giving up 23 more runs in the final overs.
Archer was a late entry in last year’s IPL mega auction and was picked by RR for Rs 12.5 crore. Meanwhile, SRH managed to score a whopping 286/6 in 20 overs, while RR, after choosing to bowl first, finished their innings at 242/6.
