Mumbai Indians captain Harmanpreet Kaur was fined an amount of 10 percent of her match fees for breaching the WPL Code of Conduct during the game against UP Warriorz at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium on Thursday.
As per WPL, Harmanpreet has confessed to “the Level 1 offence under Article 2.8, which related to showing dissent against an umpire’s decision during a match.
It happened in the last over when the on-field umpires charged MI for slow over rate, requiring fielding restrictions according to the rules, which meant only three fielders would be allowed outside the 30-yard circle.
The MI skipper, Harmanpreet, was displeased with the call and confronted umpire Ajitesh Argal questioning him about it.

On the other hand, the all-rounder Amelia Kerr, who was supposed to bowl the last over, was the other one to show her displeasure over the call.
While all of this was happening, England cricketer Sophie Ecclestone at the non-striker’s-end walked over to the umpire and delivered her views on the matter, which led to a heated argument between Harmanpreet and Ecclestone while MI’s captain was pointing a finger at her.
The umpires were called in quickly, and their intervention made Ecclestone go to the non-striker’s end while visibly frustrated.
Various videos from that event went on to go viral on social media. The Match Referee’s decision shall be final and binding for Level 1 breaches of the Code of Conduct.
The match saw Amelia Kerr’s five-wicket haul (5-38) and a blistering fifty run knock by Hayley Mathews (68 off 46) that helped Mumbai clinch six wickets and secure the second position on the table.
Current Purple Cap holder Kerr became the first bowler this season to take a fifer and set the record for the best-ever bowling figures by an MI player in WPL history.
